DJI AP100 Parachute for DJI Matrice 400
The DJI AP100 Parachute is a dedicated safety system for the DJI Matrice 400, designed to support compliant enterprise operations, protect valuable payloads and reduce risk to people and property below.
With automatic deployment, manual deployment via app, independent power, full-link redundancy and a response time of under 600 ms, the AP100 adds an important additional layer of operational safety for professional M400 users.
DJI AP100 Parachute for Matrice 400
When you are operating a heavy-lift enterprise drone like the DJI Matrice 400, safety, compliance and risk reduction matter. The DJI AP100 Parachute has been designed specifically for the Matrice 400 platform, giving operators an integrated parachute solution that helps protect the aircraft, payloads and the ground below.
The AP100 supports both automatic and manual deployment, with independent power and full-link redundancy built into the system. In the event of a critical flight issue, the parachute can deploy rapidly to help reduce impact energy and support a controlled descent.
For organisations operating in more demanding environments, or those working towards enhanced operational safety requirements, the AP100 is a key accessory for the DJI Matrice 400.
Designed for safer enterprise drone operations
The DJI AP100 Parachute helps add an additional safety layer to Matrice 400 operations. It is particularly relevant for professional users who need to manage risk carefully when operating around infrastructure, assets, people, property or complex sites.
It is suitable for sectors such as:
- Public safety and emergency response
- Infrastructure inspection
- Utilities and energy
- Surveying and mapping
- Construction and engineering
- Security and site monitoring
- Telecoms inspection
- Industrial and commercial operations
Whether you are carrying high-value sensors, flying near critical assets or building a more robust operational safety case, the AP100 helps strengthen your Matrice 400 setup.
Supports C5 / UK5 and C6 / UK6 operational requirements
The DJI AP100 Parachute is designed to support European and UK operational safety requirements when used with the DJI Matrice 400.
Mounting the AP100 Parachute on an existing DJI Matrice 400 can help meet C5 / UK5 operational safety requirements. For C6 / UK6 requirements, operators must purchase the DJI Matrice 400 C6 Worry-Free Plus Combo.
As always, aircraft equipment is only one part of compliant operations. Operators must also ensure they have the correct permissions, procedures, pilot competency, risk assessments and operating documentation in place.
Enterprise UAV can support customers with both the hardware and the operational compliance side of deploying the DJI Matrice 400 safely.
Fast deployment when it matters
In an emergency, reaction time is critical. The DJI AP100 Parachute has a deployment response time of ≤ 600 ms and supports a stabilised descent speed of ≤ 5 m/s when deployed at an altitude of 30 m or above.
Deployment options include:
- Automatic deployment
- Manual deployment via the app
- FTS deployment where supported
This gives operators multiple layers of control and helps reduce risk in the event of a serious flight issue.
Independent safety system with redundancy
The AP100 is not simply a passive accessory. It includes its own independent perception and control system, paired with intelligent algorithms for real-time cross-verification.
The system performs continuous self-diagnostics on key components, including the gas generator and communication links. It also includes built-in dual capacitors, allowing automatic deployment even in the event of aircraft power failure.
The AP100 also includes an independent Flight Termination System function, designed to cut motor power and help prevent parachute line entanglement during deployment.
After deployment, continuous audible and visual alarms help warn ground personnel and assist with equipment recovery.
Built for demanding environments
The DJI AP100 Parachute has been built to match the professional nature of the Matrice 400. With an IP55 rating, it is designed for reliable operation in challenging outdoor environments, including rain, when used in line with DJI’s IP rating guidance.
It also supports a wide operating temperature range from -20°C to 50°C, making it suitable for year-round enterprise use.
Lightweight and practical
Despite adding an important safety system to the aircraft, the AP100 weighs only approximately 935 g. The rear-mounted design is engineered to avoid interference with batteries or payloads, helping maintain the flexibility of the Matrice 400 platform.
The Matrice 400 can also fit directly into its original carrying case with the parachute attached, making transport and deployment more convenient for operational teams.

Important operational notes
When the DJI AP100 Parachute is mounted, the DJI Matrice 400 automatically disables its downward and backward mmWave radars. This means the aircraft’s ability to sense small obstacles in those directions will be limited.
FTS deployment is only available in supported countries and regions, including the UK and EU member states, and requires the aircraft to be fitted with the DJI Cellular Dongle 2 and connected to a 4G network.
C6 / UK6 operational requirements require the DJI Matrice 400 C6 Worry-Free Plus Combo. The AP100 alone does not convert every Matrice 400 configuration into a C6 / UK6 setup.
